1. What attracted you to Jacks of London?

I loved the Jacks concept and brand and thought there was very little like it in the marketplace. I also wanted to be based in a vibrant city centre location and in an industry where half the population would be my potential customers.

2. Did you have any previous barbering experience/what was your background?
None whatsoever, I came from running a video games company and was confident that good business skills would work in any industry.

3. What made you decide to take the plunge?
I looked at a variety of franchise opportunities and after much research I felt that the Jacks ‘total proposition’ suited my needs best. Two years down the line and I still believe that it was the right decision for me

4. How did you find the Jacks franchising set-up process?
I found the system very straightforward and was provided with comprehensive support throughout the whole process, from financing and finding premises to the shop fitting and recruitment.

5. How did you find your premises?
Getting the right size premises in the right location is probably the most important decision in the setup process. Researching your possible cities and towns as well areas within their close proximity, such as corporate businesses, universities and passing trade is vital to success. Knowledge and expertise of the Jacks franchise team helped make the right decision.

6. What was/is staff recruiting like?
Jacks of London is a great environment for people to work offering good career prospects and with the knowledge and support of the Jacks marketing tools I have had no problem finding good staff.

7. How successful is your marketing?
I am very proud of the businesses success so far and as I am provided with quality marketing tools in terms of local adverts, eye catching leaflets and very effective corporate and student schemes I am able to successfully communicate with my customers on a regular basis.

8. How are you managing financially, especially in the current economic climate?
In most new businesses the first two years are the most difficult, and so at this early stage I am pleased to say that the Jacks of London concept in Birmingham is proving successful and we continue to grow even during this recession. In fact as we remain so competitive on price we are actually attracting a higher number of new customers than ever before.
